I had to delete my entire iTunes music library on my phone (from another laptop) so that I could transfer one video to my camera roll from my new computer. You can use your iPhone as a USB if it isn’t old AF. Not sure what trouble he was having, but the old OS on computer or phone end causes all kinds of random issues with Apple devices. AFAIK yes it still works the same way if you still use iTunes as your media library. Looking back then to now, streaming and cloud storage really made things a lot more convenient lol.
