I went through a similar thing with the movie Dodgeball back when it first came out. I fell in love with a unique version of the song “Red Rubber Ball” that plays near the end of the movie. Couldn’t find it to download anywhere so I reached out to the band directly (I think it was Egg Chair but I could be remembering wrong). They actually responded and told me it’s just a short, incomplete cover they did specifically for the movie – but they were nice enough to send me the mp3 as thanks for being a fan of their work.
